Alonzo "Lonnie" Spears Date: 1917 ~ Place: Leavenworth Prison Lonnie was born 11 January 1885 & died 17 August 1968. He is the son of Mary Lou Zanie (Cole) & John Meredith Spears. Lonnie & his father were imprisoned for opposing World War I.  They took part in the The Green Corn Rebellion, which took place in 1917 in rural Oklahoma. The Green Corn Rebellion was a popular uprising of poor farmers who identified with the Socialist Party.
