Citations

Belle's death certificate incorrectly has 1876 as her birth year, and also incorrectly states that her parents were born in North Carolina. On their marriage license, both Belle and Jesse were listed as being older than they actually were at that time. This could be the reason for the incorrect birth years on their death certificates.
