Researching Spears in Missouri.....

William Riley Spears

I am looking for a link, if there is one, to the Spears family in Missouri. I received email inquiring about William Riley Spears, the son of Elizabeth (Robinson) and Samuel H. Spears, who is in the genealogy information posted on this Web site.

William Riley Spears (pictured above) born 14 September 1854 and died 21 August 1927 in Trenton, Grundy County, Missouri, the son of Margaret (Broyles) and James Spears. He is buried in Christian Union Cemetery, Gilman City, Harrison County, Missouri. He appears in the 1900 and 1910 Missouri census with wife Mary E. and children. Harrison County is in Northern Missouri.

According to my records, William Riley Spears, born 4 July 1870 and died 27 June 1935, the son of Elizabeth (Robinson) and Samuel H. Spears, is buried in McDonald County, Missouri. This is a county in the southeast corner of Missouri very near Newton County in Arkansas.

Samuel and Elizabeth apparently stayed in Newton County, Arkansas. I have the Newton County Arkansas Census 1860, 1870 and 1900 with Samuel and Elizabeth living there. I have not been able to locate Samuel in an 1880 census. In the 1900 census Billy and Nerva Spears and five children are living next door to Samuel. In 1920 William is a widower and two of his chidren are living with him.

Since putting out this page, my research has become more successful. However, I would like to know if we are related to the William R. Spears pictured above. If anyone has found a link please email me.
