John Meredith Spears Date: 1917 ~ Place: Leavenworth Prison Lonnie was born 7 March 1857 & died 21 February 1922. He is the son of Amanda Martha (Wilburn) & Thomas Jefferson Spears. John & his son, Alonzo, were imprisoned for opposing World War I.  They took part in the The Green Corn Rebellion, which took place in 1917 in rural Oklahoma. The Green Corn Rebellion was a popular uprising of poor farmers who identified with the Socialist Party.
