This grave marker was purchased and put into place by Travis Spears.
The following was stated by Travis. "It is a memorial marker for Samuel, but there is no evidence that he is actually buried there. After much research of the area and looking at the land where he lived and checking in neighborhood family cemeteries, I (Travis) concluded that most likely Samuel is buried there because it is only a mile from his property. Swanson Cemetery has an old section where there are grave sites that date from the early 1800's. None of John T. Spears, his brothers, children or anyone else has been buried in private property which gives credence that Samual Spears is probably in the Swanson Cemetery."

Travis goes on to say, "The phrase "Sacred to the Memory of" is traditionally used when the person may not actually be buried in that location."

Windi Spears has dedicated a lot of time and effort to find the actual resting place for Samuel. She feels he may be buried in Patterson Cemetery. Windi is still researching this.
